The Frog

Posted by: typealice In: BVI| Daily| Gillian

The other night, Clive found this photogenic frog hanging out on our wooden chair outside on our deck. He allowed me to get very close to him, and ended up falling asleep halfway through the photoshoot. Clive and I knelt down beside him for about half an hour, taking about 100 pictures each. This is the best one I took.

I feel like I’ve been too busy to do anything lately. Between trying to relax for a few hours on the weekend and all my contract work, trying to find a car to buy, thinking about the Christmas holidays coming up and how utterly broke Clive and I both are (it’s looking like we’re headed to Anegada to camp on the beach and do some snorkling and fishing) so things are going to be compromised a bit, for a while.

I know that everything’s going to work out, but the next few months are going to be hard, and I’m barely coming out on top, and I work my ass off. I’m not complaining, I love what I do, and I wouldn’t give it up, it just wears on your soul to be broke all your life.

Well, it wears on my soul anyway. And anyone who knows me well, knows that I stress (a lot) about money. It runs in the family.

I’m still in negotiating mode with the guy who’s selling his car, and hopefully tomorrow it’ll be good news, and I’ll be an official car owner.

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
