A list

Posted by: typealice In: Cooking| Daily| I <3 Clive

1. Fir tree scented candles = CHRISTMAS in the Caribbean! It’s almost like I’m in a forest! A friend gave it to me last night, and it’s SUCH a good present!

2. I’m baking xmas treats tonight because I’m on xmas vacation. It’s this family recipe called “Judy’s Chocolate Fancies” and it’s so old that no one knows who Judy is anymore. It’s my favorite xmas treat. I had to buy all of the ingredients and it ended up costing me about $15 (the cocoa alone was $5!), so they’d better be tasty. Almond essence icing and chocolate and graham crumbs and coconut : does anyone want the recipe? They’re SO damn good.

3. Today I sneaked out to buy Clive a machete for xmas, but he found it already. Not only did he find it, he figured out what it was, and unwrapped it from its packaging. This is our first xmas together, and if today’s an example of how it’s going to go, there will be NO surprises. Boo. Clive sucks at surprises.

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
