Cat in one hand, veil in the other

Posted by: typealice In: BVI| Daily| Gillian| Wedding

I spent the morning shopping, doing laundry, taking the next step in selling my car, grocery shopping and getting the mail. I was very VERY pleased to see that a small package from a BME Friend had finally arrived- nearly two months after she sent it from FL. In it contained a veil- the one that she wore when she got married, and will be the same veil I wear when I get married. I’ve never been one of those girls who dreams about my wedding, thinks of a perfect Prince Charming nor plans every last detail before the husband-to-be has been met. My sister and I were joking the other night about how when we were little we played with barrels and bark. I’m so serious. (We’d balance on the barrels and try to ride them around the yard and pretend that bark and moss were food items and play “restaurant” in our wood shed.)

Today, on the other hand, I folded and put away the laundry wearing the veil. I talked on the phone and wore my veil. I took pictures of me in the veil. I see what the draw is to pretending you’re a bride. I never felt it until I put it on. Thanks BME Friend!

I bought shoes, beautiful shoes, today for $25. I was trying to take pictures of them when I realized that the kitten had found the veil on my bed and was laying on it. I got up and the camera snapped. The kitten in one hand, the veil in the other. I still didn’t get a good shot of the shoes, but I think the picture turned out pretty neat.

just remember that the veil is one thing, but when you start wondering around in your wedding dress your fast approching “scary”!

(incidently, loving the eye shadow!)

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
