Sitting Still

Posted by: typealice In: Daily

I’m having a very hard time sitting still for longer than five minutes. There’s so much to do that I can’t concentrate on anything. I’ve been up since about 5:45am, it’s only 11:15, and I already feel like it should be getting dark.

Yesterday I was sick. I think it was a combination of exhaustion (I’ve only been able to get a few hours of sleep a night for more than a week) and dehydration. I’m usually really good about drinking at least 2L of water a day, but I’ve been slacking off on that lately. I was too stressed to take a nap, too nauseous to do anything, so I dragged myself out of the house and went shopping for hair dye, luggage and ziplock bags. By the time I got home, I was tired enough that I could sleep for an hour, but not before a couple of sessions of dry heaving over the toilet. It was a rough day.

Today I’ve already dropped a lot of household stuff off at charity, packed most of my stuff into my new suitcases, swept and mopped the floor, hosed off the curtians to get rid of the cat pee smell, cleaned the fridge, tried to figure out more of WhereTheHellIsMatt’s WordPress code (UGH, MOST ANNOYING THING EVER) (If anyone knows more about WP than me, PLEASE contact me) in order to give him everything that he wants.

… Okay, it’s about three hours later. I got distracted. I’ve just finished taking out three enormous bags of garbage, and I’m still finding more that will need to go out before I catch my plane tomorrow morning. Everytime I move I’m always amazed at how much trash is laying around my apartment without me even noticing.

Well, I just got up again and had a shower. When I came back I found that the kitten had peed in my suitcase. Wicked.

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
