Leamington?

Posted by: typealice In: Daily

I spent the weekend with my best friend. We walked around downtown Toronto yesterday for seven hours critiquing people’s clothing. I was oblivious to fashion trends for the past year due to the fact that I was living in the Caribbean where there is NO style. These jean shorts, mid-calf length tights, ruffles and wide belts worn directly under the tits really bother me. Fashion is so ugly and unflattering lately.

Clive and I are still trying to figure out where to live. I’ve recently heard of Leamington, which is currently rated the best place in the entire country to live. I’d like to visit there as soon as possible and see what it’s like. I need to get the hell out of Mississauga, I strongly dislike it here. Picking up and moving somewhere new is not only scary, but expensive. Neither of these things are very motivational.

Leamington is about the same latitude as Italy and Spain, which means mild winter temperatures which means having a great garden! It’s also the “Tomato Capital of Canada” which is a hilarious title to have.

So… on who’s scale is “leaminton” the best place to live in Canada? I think there are a lot of people that would beg to differ that anywhere in Ontario is the bestplace to live. If its mild weather you want, you should be moving out west!

It’s much more southern than the Okanagan… I got the information from here, where you can see all the criteria listed in MoneySense magazine. (Weather, walking to work, population growth etc etc.)

um.. there are other factors than latitude that effect a location’s climate.

Leamington is not like italy, other than maybe the mountains in the winter.

Um, yes Michael, I understand that. But latitude does play a part. I’m not an idiot, but thanks.

Intersting. But I am still not sold. It’s the “Ontario” part of “Leamington, Ontario” that I have a problem with. But hey, go check it out, it might be perfect for you guys. (feel free to come back to BC too, there is good fishing here!)

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
