Somehow I bought five pairs of shoes in four weeks

Posted by: typealice In: Daily| Gillian

I took a picture of all (okay, not all of them, I’m missing at least one pair in this picture) of my shoes the other day after I cleaned up, and realized, “JESUS, where did they all come from?” I somehow purchased five pairs of shoes in the past month. Two pairs of skate shoes, two high heels, and one pair of flip flops.

The red pair I bought in Mexico but have hardly worn. My Croc Athens are by far my most comfortable. I haven’t seen anyone else wear them (Clive and I each got a pair in the BVI), and they don’t look anything like regular Crocs. Thank god.

I bought one pair of Circa skate shoes when I first got back into Canada for $114.00, which killed me, but THEN I found another pair of skate shoes that I liked even more for $25, so I had to buy those as well because the price was too good to pass up.

The best pair is the black and white heels from Daddy-Os. I thought they were a great price at $35, but then shipping was another $25 and then when I picked them up at the post office, the duty was another $15. Not such a great deal afterall. The purple heels were purchased in the BVI, and the ugly green flip flops were purchased in Toronto for $3.99 because my feet were too hot and sore from walking around in new shoes for hours and hours last weekend.

I don’t remember when I became such a shoe person.

Sometime about a year ago, I suddenly fell out of love with shoes. It makes me sad to think of it. But now i wear one of the following: a pair of old black low chucks, addidas flip flops, new balance runners, or the one pair of nice heels I own, which are black and strappy and pointy. In winter, I have two pairs of boots I rotate. I don’t know when I became a marm.
