We have no AC

Posted by: typealice In: Daily

Even after living in Africa, Mexico and the Caribbean, I have never EVER experienced heat like this. We heard on the radio that the temperature was between 51 and 49 (about 130F) today. It’s 9:30pm and I wouldn’t doubt that it’s still 35. Unpacking was fun (gooooodbyeeee Mississauga!!!!) but the sweat POURED off of us. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it before. Record breaking high temperatures, of course. This is just crazy. I’m so happy to have our own place again.

weird to be hearing about these temperatures up in the frigid northlands, while it’s much cooler here in (my little slice of) the tropics… well, at least you’re not tying the buildings to the ground in preparation for Tropical Storm Chris… so far so good with the wind, waves, and rain, but the night is young. :)

My guess is that THAT won’t happen until the fall, because it’s TOO HOT to even touch. We tried holding hands last night, and we had to stop.

Ah damn, yes! i’m more and more longing to be living once more in a climate that encourages hugging, cuddling, snogging, and such (let alone hand-holding!)…
ps… stormy weathers passed, and now it’s back to the usual stupidhot&humid

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
