Life in London is good. Clive and I are fully settled into our apartment, with much help from Clive’s sister and mother. Because neither of us had ANYTHING as far as household items go, we had to start from scratch. It’s expensive as hell. I can think of a lot better things to do with those hundreds and hundreds of dollars, but thanks to them and their generosity, a lot of the things that we needed were.
Clive started working on Monday. He got a job very quickly, which I knew he would. It’s not an ideal position, but it’s good because it’ll pay the bills until he finds something better and more suited to his skill set.
We’ve gone fishing several times, and even performed a rescue mission on a 10-inch rock bass the other day. It was stuck in a very small pool of water that was leftover from either heavy rains or from when the river’s water depleted from the summer heat. God knows how long it’d been in there, but it wasn’t very active, and looked like it was going to die at any moment. So Clive went “fishing” with his bare hands and after several attempts, was able to grab it and put it back in the river where it belonged. I was so happy! And then, I promptly caught it on my next cast into the river. I guess we should have put it further downstream. He was obviously very hungry. Then, before we left the riverside, Clive dug a trench from the pool into the river in hopes that the two smaller fish (not sure the species) would be able to get back into the river too. They were much faster swimmers, and the pond water was all sludgy thanks to Clive’s rescue of the rock bass, so we couldn’t directly save them.
I’m still in the process of trying to find a job. I’ve submitted my resume to several placement agencies, who I’m sure are annoying my references with all of their calls (sorry references!) and/or emails. I’ve come across some good leads and a couple are looking promising.
Next weekend we’re heading back to Toronto to go to a wonderful wedding. I can’t wait. This will be the first wedding I’ve been to in literally ten years, and is also the first one I’ve been to that is of friends of mine, not family. I have no idea what to wear, and I suspect Clive and I will be shopping this weekend for something. I have the shoes, I just need to find a dress. This will be the last weekend of the summer that we’ll really be able to enjoy because of Clive’s shitty work schedule, so we’re going to try to enjoy it. I’d love to go to Northern Ontario (Jack Lake) to go fishing and swimming, but I’m not sure if that’ll happen or not. My best friend is leaving for New Orleans to go Tulane that week(end?), and it’ll be my last chance to see her, at least until Christmas, so I’d love to hang out in Toronto and spend some time with her too. Who knows.
Everything is good.
