A-PAULED!

Posted by: typealice In: Daily| Gillian

Today at work I was listening to CBC radio and a woman who sits next to me told me it was “driving her crazy” and that she HATES talk radio! Who hates CBC?! I told her I thought that she would like it, and she’s like, “honey, I grew up in the 1960s.” WTF does that even mean?! I told her that my mother also grew up in the 1960s and she doesn’t listening to anything but CBC. Then she gave me a sarcastic look. CBC is part of Canadian culture! Millions of listeners! And all of them are intelligent!

So now I’m forced to listen to easy rock at work with loud commercials that may as well be shouting “BUYBUYBUY!STUFFSTUFFSTUFF!” and it’s totally obnoxious!

How can you hate CBC? I f-ing love it. I even download their podcasts for my iPod and listen to the Halifax broadcast because it’s better than London’s.

I must admit I kind of hate talk radio as a general rule. That being said, I have a soft spot for Stuart Mclean, and the radio-movies they had on in the car when I was driving to and from Cape Breton what seemed like a million times a year as a kid. I don’t like listening to Dr. Laura or any of that crap, but Quirks and Quarks is good. It really depends on the show for me, but a lot of them are boring and talk about things I’m not interested in.

I have recently gotten into talk radio. mostly sports radio. I don’t hate CBC, I find I just always seem to turn it on when its classical music hour so I get bored too easily. Are you guys able to stream audio? you might like http://www.pandora.com because you can customize it to a few likes and dislikes and create stations.

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
