Pregnancy FUCKS With Your Mind

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily

One of the things that has surprised me the most about becoming pregnant is how much I think about it. There’s nothing in particular I think about- I’m not contemplating names or nursery designs, I’m not worrying about money or if I’m going to be a good mother. I’m not worried about Clive’s abilities to [...]

We’re Engaged!!!!!!!!!!!

Originally uploaded by typealice.

Today, out of nowhere (well, after watching part of one of my videos from the BVI), I got the urge to go to the BVI and get married.
I haven’t missed living in the BVI, as my memories of the Caribbean are [...]

Shortly after finding out I was pregnant (a few weeks ago), I started having these flashbacks to my old life. Old boyfriends. My childhood. Places I’ve visited. Things I’ve done. [...]

Bowling

Posted by: typealice In: Daily| Gillian| I <3 Clive

Who knew that bowling could be so expensive? It cost us $45 for an hour (including shoe rentals, but not including a pitcher of beer), but it was very fun! I hadn’t bowled since 2002, I think. I won the first game, and Clive whooped all of our asses in the second game. [...]

I Love the Fresh Prince

Posted by: typealice In: Daily| Gillian| Videos

Clive’s been making me watch the Rocky movies this weekend (we’ve watched the first two so far), and I’m subjecting him to the first season of The L Word. I think the first episode of season four starts tonight, along with The Apprentice, which I’m not so interested in watching now that he’s insulted Rosie [...]

A Woman in a Man’s World

Posted by: typealice In: Daily| Gillian

I started a new job yesterday and it’s going very well. I am part of a four-person IT team, and I can’t even begin to explain how nice it feels to be 1) in IT and 2) be [the only] female in IT for the entire company. Even though the job isn’t something really technical [...]

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
