11 Weeks, 1 Day

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily

I don’t think my uterus has popped over my pubic bone quite yet, but in the past week I’ve not been able to comfortably wear my work pants with the button done up, and I’m definitely looking a bit different in my lower stomach. Clive says that I’ve started to show, and I [...]

More Day Dreaming

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily| Travelling

My food aversion is slowly disappearing. I can eat more than just fruit and yogurt now! So far I’ve craved Kraft Cheese Slices, Heavenly Hash ice cream, Mountain Dew, a butter tart and the most recent: mushroom risotto. Too bad all of my food interests are unhealthy. I’m happy to say that I’ve only had [...]

Cha-cha-cha-changes

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily| I <3 Clive| Travelling

I don’t hate Valentine’s Day, I just don’t care about it. I think the extent of the romance of the day will be watching the Beauty and the Geek season finale and maybe a movie. We’ll probably also have to do the dishes. I hate cake with chopsticks twice this week because that’s all that [...]

This Week I’m Creating Fingerprints!

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily

Some people have asked about baby registries (we aren’t there quite yet, but will be within the next week or two (or ten), even though I’m not yet out of my first trimester, guys!). They started asking immediately after the annoucement that I was pregnant. People love to buy baby things! Keep it up people!

Seeing [...]

Overheard

Posted by: typealice In: Daily

One of my favorite sites to read is OverheardinNewYork.com. People quote snippets of conversations that they’ve heard and then the owner of the site posts them online for all of us to read. This quote made me laugh out loud (a couple of times) today.
Hobo to puddle: You don’t fucking know, man. Shit. [...]

I Remember

Posted by: typealice In: Daily| Family| Gillian

I remember being 21 years old, a couple months after leaving Europe, still on a high. I met a younger guy- a mere 16 years old, who had the most pure heart and magnetic aura of anyone I’d ever met, at a party of my brother’s. He was a poet, a vegan and loved [...]

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
