Upcoming Baby Shower

Posted by: typealice In: Baby

Nicole and I have been discussing the upcoming baby shower on Saturday. I’m trying to convince her NOT to buy two kegs, because surely we’ll only need one, right? I think three cases of Lakeport is not only the cheaper, but better option anyway. There are about thirty people on the list, and about [...]

Overworked and Underpaid

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive

This man of mine is on a free ride.
Men will never understand what it’s like to carry a child inside of them. I’m okay with that. Women who’ve never been pregnant can’t understand it either. I certainly had no idea what I was in for. The problem is, is that because they’ll [...]

My Beautiful Baby Boy

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Videos

I edited down over an hour of 3D/4D ultrasound footage from last week into just a little over three minutes. Even though I drank pop in order to get the baby active, he still remained folded like an accordion for the entire appointment. For the first half an hour, we only saw legs and arms, [...]

Baby Shower #1

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Family| Gillian| I <3 Clive

We had our first baby shower yesterday. It went very well. Clive’s sister knows how to throw a great party. She’s our favorite person to give presents to because she’s so easily excitable, and says all the right things and is very appreciative of everything anyone does for her. I think I’ll miss [...]

The baby’s head feels like I’ve swallowed a softball. It’s extremely cool. I can now tell the difference between his round bum and his head. He’s been doing this weird thing in the past week that makes it feel like he’s blowing bubbles or like I have worms. I wish I knew what he was [...]

The ultrasound was so cool. He wouldn’t stop touching his face and he was completely folded in half for the entire time, so it made it hard to get a good look at his face. At one point he had his toes on the top of his forehead. No matter how much sugar I injested [...]

Skillz, baby. Mad Skillz.

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian| Links

Sometimes when I’m bored at work (read: all the time), I spend hours reading blogs. And refreshing the same websites (iam, facebook, my email) over and over again on the off-chance that someone has updated and I can be entertained for 10 seconds.
Today I went to ParentHacks, which is on my blogroll but ends up [...]

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
