Nova Scotia!

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive| Travelling

We made it safe and sound to Nova Scotia after two full days (12 hours+ each day) of driving. We weren’t involved in any accidents, the cargo unit strapped to our car’s roof behaved as it should have, and we weren’t pulled over for speeding. We only got “lost” a couple of times, and were [...]

This Weekend

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Fishing| Gillian| I <3 Clive| Travelling

This weekend Clive and I took a four-day vacation to Northern-ish Ontario. He caught fish. I didn’t. Instead, I took off my shirt and posed for some 32-week portraits.

Heartbeat Video, Again

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Videos

Midwife appointment yesterday. The baby flipped back to where he’s supposed to lay sometime in the middle of the night after nearly two full weeks of him being breech! I was told he’s a good size, and his heartbeat is very strong (130s when he’s still, 140s when he’s moving- you get to hear it [...]

Ups and Downs

Posted by: typealice In: Baby

I have three days of work this week, and then two days next week. And then I’m done. DONE! Bring on maternity leave! Not a moment too soon, I might add, because I am exhausted.
Clive and I attended an intensive weekend of prenatal classes this weekend (9-4pm Sat & Sun) with a retired nurse/midwife [...]

Redemption

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian| I <3 Clive

Allow me to say that Clive 100% redeemed himself yesterday. I got upset AGAIN about the lack of work he does to help me out around the house, while I work a fulltime job (and do a small amount of designing on the side for a little bit of extra income), cook all the [...]

How Will my Love Compare?

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian

Sometimes I get scared that I won’t think that my baby is as cute as some animals out there. Throughout my entire pregnancy, I’ve joked about wanting to give birth to kittens (and then have subsequent dreams about actually giving birth to and breastfeeding (!!) kittens), polar bears, puppies and anything else that I find [...]

Good Ol’ IKEA!

Posted by: typealice In: Daily

How much do I love our new bedding? Times a hundred. We’re not going to take it out of the packaging until we get to Nova Scotia, and it’s one of those “adult” things that I’ve always wanted to splurge on, but never have. My current bedding is from Value Village (gross, I [...]

Bitch

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian

To the person that talks badly about me to people I’ve never met, who says “they’ll never last” throughout the relationship I’ve had with Clive (”they’ll never last” after I followed him out of Mexico, “they’ll never last” after he proposes, and even “they’ll never last” when we tried and succeeded at getting pregnant), even [...]

29 Weeks 5 Days

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily

The woman who came to pick up the suitcases I was selling her (from Kijiji) sneered at the fact that I found out the sex of my baby and said in a disgusted voice, “kids these days.” Clive said that I should have kicked her out and shut the door in her face [...]

  • Siobhan: Robyn: Are you being sarcastic? Why would you be bothered it was an April fool's joke, which was a yearly tradition at BME.
  • Robyn: I'm really bothered by the fact that that entire article is a lie seeing as you two didn't bite each others fingers off and you photoshopped all of th

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
