I’m continuing to think that this move to Nova Scotia was a HUGE mistake. Clive’s still no closer to finding a decent job in the Halifax region. He’s started a job this week which he’ll have to quit when we move to the city, because it’s better than nothing, but it’s only $10/hr, and that is not even close to being enough to cover even his monthly loan payments, let alone other bills that we’ll need to pay once we move out of my mom’s house and the baby arrives.
He was recruited by someone who found his resume on Monster, for another call center job in the city, but one that pays REALLY well, and we thought, “FINALLY!” and we were able to relax a little bit, knowing that he was basically a shoe-in for the job. All we really had to worry about was finding a place to live (which is more difficult than I ever thought it could be).
He had a telephone interview with them today on his lunch break. They’ve moved him onto the next step of asking him for an in-person interview on September 30. This is great news, because it means he’ll be able to keep his shitty job here until then (we thought he’d have to quit by the end of this week in order to go to this interview). This means he’ll have nearly two weeks of income.
The bad news:
Not only is the interview later than we thought, it means that the training will be as well. We kind of expected the training to start late (someone had mentioned it not starting until September 10), but he has been informed that the training will not take place in Halifax. Instead, it will be in THE UNITED STATES.
Which basically FUCKS us completely. He can’t possibly leave the country around my due date, and nor would he want to. This means that he can’t take this job.
Back to square one. I’m going to go and have a cry now.
