Samples

One of my most commented-on posts was my confession about how I have a hard time using my expensive or nice things, like facial cream, hair stuff, and especially nice pens. Here’s the post.
I was very glad to hear that I was not the only one to suffer from this weird habit. [...]

Hmmm

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive

Clive and I have both been f-ing around on Etsy lately. Me with my Drool Bandits and Clive’s taken to trying to sell his fishing lures on there. He just MSNd me from his computer (I am in the bedroom with my laptop, he’s in the kitchen) an Etsy address. I thought it was his [...]

Funniest Story: EVER

Posted by: typealice In: Daily| Gillian

I spent the afternoon with my friend Adam who MSN’d me just before noon and asked if I’d like to go to breakfast with him. We met a little over an hour later and he told me the funniest story I’d ever heard. Throughout the rest of the day I’d burst out laughing just [...]

A Short One

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian

It’s 11:09 and I’ve been working on my Drool Bandits since Ash went to sleep over four hours ago. I’ve got a lot constructed, and have started my Etsy Shop. I’m still not sure about the write ups, but it’ll have to do. They look good, anyway. I’m thrilled with them. It’s also nice to [...]

I lose

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily| Family| Gillian| Videos

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been letting Ash drink a small amount of water almost every day. He initiated it, reaching out and grabbing for my glass, and he LOVES it. I think it’s partially because it’s cool on his gums, and partially because now is about the time when [...]

Busy, Busy

Posted by: typealice In: Family| Gillian| I <3 Clive

Today was Clive’s only day off in the entire week. I wish we had more time to have fun (read: more money would also help), but it’s one of the only days that I have access to the car (which has a newly acquired broken windshield, *sob*), so instead it’s spent running errands. We went [...]

The Future

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily| Gillian

Today I was thinking about how much maternity leave I have left, and realized that SHIT, only like, six more months! When I think about Ash being almost one year old, it seems like billions of years away, yet when I think about how much time I have left living off the [...]

Working

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily| Family| Gillian| I <3 Clive

To update you on yesterday’s post…
It took me two hours to fall asleep because I worked myself up so much before going to bed. I spent the night with the baby in the other bedroom, and just as I fell asleep, he woke up barfing and stayed awake for about half an hour. I didn’t [...]

MEN. Grrr.

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive

When I have “down time” I can’t help but see my house as a list of “to do”s. The floor needs sweeping. The entrance needs scrubbing to get rid of the salt stains. The garbage, recycling and compost needs to be taken outside. I always have laundry to do. The sink needs scrubbing. There [...]

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
