2008: A Year in Review

Posted by: typealice In: Baby|Family|Gillian|I <3 Clive

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?

  • Heard Ash laugh for the first time (the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard)
  • Sung “Down By the Bay” literally 129384730 times
  • Planned a wedding
  • Got married
  • Spent every single day of this entire year with a baby. And videotaped most of it only once.
  • Started my own business
  • Changed a zillion diapers, without any environmental impact other than some water!
  • Watched a lot of developmental milestones come and go with amazement- sitting up unassisted, crawling, walking, teeth, first words etc.
  • Dropped ANY social anxiety I had about meeting new people thanks to having a baby.
  • Took a walk almost every single day for entertainment purposes.
  • Went to Georgia
  • Suffered horrendously from mastitis. Ranks up there with malaria.
  • Left IAM (BME), which I never thought I’d want to do. Then, got over it.
  • Canned fruit.
  • Got into some parenting conversations online… here, here, here, here, here, here, notoriously here, and lastly here. PS. here.
  • Went to Cuba.
  • Was accused of carrying a gun/explosives at the Cuban airport. Did I forget to tell you that story?
  • Also in that last point- went on my first all-inclusive vacation. It felt weird. Yet very relaxing.
  • Travelled with my mom for the first time out of the country. It was wonderful.
  • Moved with a child in tow.
  • Met an AMAZING group of mommy friends who are more “friends” than “mommies.” They make my life so much more fun.

Hey, how come this is all 2007 stuff? It’s confusing, a little, because I think you mean 2008? Right? I mean, the very first question says 2007….

Other than that, I may cut and paste this into my blog and do the same sort of reflecting.

  • April: I feel the blog revolt as well. I am not comfortable saying some of the things I would like to say with strangers, and I don't feel I'm able to mask
  • Stefanie: Hello, I have been a follower of yours since the BME days… and have always found your blog fascinating. This came across my blog today, and I though
