Through Love and Hate

Posted by: typealice In: Family|Gillian|Parenting

I love that so many of you responded with tales of your childhood (and adulthood) and how you got along with your siblings. Thank you for that.

Lots of you reminded me that it all has to do with personality on whether or not siblings actually get along. My sister and I had some really enormous arguments growing up, and earlier this month she and I went a couple of days without speaking after a fairly heated conversation we had. I’ve given her a black eye over 1. a leftover jelly bean from easter and 2. a pair of socks. So, you’re right. Ups and downs. I expect we’ll continue to be close as adults (we’re currently next door neighbours) and I have the hopes that my brother, Jarrod, and I will also become closer as the years pass.

So, to explain the previous post (scroll down to see what I mean), those pictures were taken ten years ago (holy cow) when my sister and I were having fun over a xmas break and decided to create many characters and record them with a camcorder. These characters were Dan and Stan, Christmas tree farmers with drinking problems (I’ve got a pint in my front pocket (and a jar of homemade pickles in my hand) and Ambera has a bottle of Blue) doing a commercial for our Christmas tree company. Now, I know you do not find this funny. But Ambera and I, I swear to god, took about 20 takes of our thirty second commercial because we could not stop laughing, and what was even better is that we got to watch the bloopers and laugh even harder at ourselves. Dan and Stan, for us, made some of the best memories of our teen years.

The idea that Ash could grow up and have a sibling to do such idiot-fun things with makes my heart glow.

That being said, as of this morning, I’m officially IUD-free!

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Yay! Make those babies!
And please, by all means, use the name Finn :) I think there’s enough distance between us that no one will confuse our kids! Will it be Finn or Finnegan (which is what we went with)?
Our next baby, boy or girl (please god let it be a boy…) is going to Bixby :)

Ashley- that tattoo appointment is the only reason why I want to wait until spring! And we’re definitely heading in your direction regardless. ;)

Another baby, that’s crazy! Ash is such a calm and easy going kid, I bet he will be a fantastic big brother!
It will be fun to have another baby in the mix and maybe if Frances sees one she will start bugging her dad for her very own ;)

Good luck!
