Recipes?

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Cooking

Anyone want to share some good recipes for meals that you prepare and freeze before giving birth? I’d like to spend the next week cooking, but outside of chili and spaghetti sauce, I have no idea what to cook! I’m a vegetarian, but I think it’d be fun to share some ideas!

I <3 My Mom

Posted by: typealice In: Cooking| Daily| Gillian

I grew up with a vegetarian hippie mother (who still ate fish) and an extreme meat-eater step father. This resulted in a very interesting diet. One night I’d be eating spaghetti with “meatless meat balls” (I’m still not sure what they were made of, but I think they had walnuts in them), and the next [...]

Blueberry Grunt

Posted by: typealice In: Cooking| Daily

One of the best things about being back in Canada are the cheap groceries. A pint of blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries or a quart of strawberries were $10.00 each in the BVI, and here they’re $1-3.00. Last night I bought the ingredients to make Blueberry Grunt. It’s a East Coast of Canada kind of [...]

Judy’s Chocolate Fancies

Posted by: typealice In: Cooking| Daily

Here’s the recipe everyone’s been waiting for! And yes, it’s easily vegan-izable. Just use margarine that doesn’t have whey, use soy milk, egg subsitute and hopefully you can find some graham crumbs that are vegan as well…
In double boiler mix:

1 egg
3 Tbsp cocoa
1/4 c sugar
When everything’s melted and mixed, add:

Mmmm, strawberry jam

Posted by: typealice In: Cooking| Daily| Gillian| I <3 Clive

Lots of things have been happening in Clive-and-Gillian world lately. I’ve been spending a lot of time lately out of the house and in air conditioning, which is nice.
Clive has been baking a lot of key lime pies by himself lately, some go a little better than others. He was made one the [...]

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
