Pip has started up again. My living room is filled with cowls, most of them half-complete. New ones are released every day. I’m really, really excited about this season. One must read between the lines, or lack thereof. I know there has been a lot of silence around here. Blogging was once a release, but [...]

Me, Ten Years Ago

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian

Ten years ago, and through much of my twenties, if I wasn’t happy I wasn’t doing it. I made it my main perogitive to be happy, no matter what. I wouldn’t stay in a job or a city or (a little harder to follow this rule, thanks to the annoying thing that’s called LOVE) relationships [...]

I forgot about this…

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian

I’m on my third IUD in the past two years. I started with Mirena, but because I was (and still am) nursing, I didn’t like the idea of taking anything hormonal regardless of studies that said it was safe. I also had it removed because Clive and I thought it might be a good time [...]

Summer Do

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian

I went to a hairdresser I’d never been to before, one my friend goes to. I trusted this hairdresser because my friend has an intentional mullet and it looks HOT. I figure anyone who gives someone a mullet is willing to take chances. This is what I ended up with. It’s incredibly different, it’s scary, [...]

Vertical Gardening

Posted by: typealice In: Daily|Gillian

My garden is underway! I planted three varieties of cherry tomatoes and peas about six weeks ago and they’re all doing very well. I have about two dozen tomato plants inside (does anyone have any idea what to do with this many cherry tomatoes?) and seven pea plants outside in my one raised bed. Urban [...]

My Mother’s Day

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian

My Mother’s Day was spent on my motorcycle! My GLORIOUS, WONDERFUL motorcycle. I’m totally and fully addicted. I took the course last weekend, easily passed the test and have my license. Today three friends and I took a (cold, freezing) ride to Peggy’s Cove, which was my longest time on the bike and was the [...]

Bikes

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian

Next weekend I take my motorcycle course and then I’ll be able to ride it! So excited. For now, I purchased myself this bike and got it all fixed up today and rode it home. One of my friends says it’s the gayest bike ever. Her name is Paulie, after the crazy lesbian in Lost [...]

The Big 3-0

Posted by: typealice In: Daily|Gillian

Today I turn 30. I haven’t cried about getting older in at least a few years, but admittedly, today’s a tough one for me. I don’t think 30 is bad, I just don’t see myself as 30; 30 isn’t how I thought it would be; 30 seems so OLD (even though all of my closest [...]

My Spring

Posted by: typealice In: Family|Gillian

Spring is here! I woke up to birds chirping! Tomorrow is supposed to be 19 degrees! Here’s what spring looks at my house! And here’s what a kid with the flu looks like.

  • Asheo: 3rd birthday is coming up really soon! So a few days early... Happy Birthday Ash!
  • April: I feel the blog revolt as well. I am not comfortable saying some of the things I would like to say with strangers, and I don't feel I'm able to mask
  • Stefanie: Hello, I have been a follower of yours since the BME days… and have always found your blog fascinating. This came across my blog today, and I though

About

I'm Gillian, a world-traveller turned natural parent. I believe in primal parenting; breastfeeding, baby wearing, cosleeping, cloth diapering, elimination communication, vegetarianism and all things natural. I have very strong parenting views. There's nothing better in my life than my days with my kid. Also: sushi and sweet white wine, skinny jeans and black tshirts, torrents and sugar.

My sustainable accessories company Pip Robins keeps me busy in the evenings.
