Life

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive

Ash had his first temper tantrum yesterday, the first of many, many more to come, I’m sure. He wanted to bring a glass of water that had been sitting on the bedside table onto the bed to play with, and I said no firmly and he threw himself onto the bed, face first and [...]

Television and other unnecessaries

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian| I <3 Clive

I called our local cable/internet/telephone provider today and got our cable cut off. I have hardly turned on the TV all summer and it just didn’t seem worth the extra expense now that my maternity leave is over and I’m left on my own to keep up with my bills and I hardly have [...]

A Wedding Story

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian| I <3 Clive| Wedding

The Day Before
Clive and I arrived at the cottage on Saturday, the day before the wedding, where we set up as much as we could. The chairs and tables and snow kone machine were delivered on time, and we unloaded several carloads of food and supplies. I was lucky to have massive help from our [...]

Three weeks!!

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive

A mere three weeks until our big day!
I mentioned a few entries ago that people had RSVP’d on very late notice, and now people are informing us that they can’t come. Four people, actually, in the span of about 24 hours have taken back their Yes RSVP and changed it to a No. Both for [...]

Lately…

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive| Wedding

T minus one month less a day until our wedding! I have been feeling very, very relaxed lately because I’ve got most of the things done that need to be done. In a couple of weeks I’ll be getting a haircut, dying my hair and baking a couple of batches of cookies that can be [...]

We’re Home

Posted by: typealice In: Gillian| I <3 Clive

We arrived back in Nova Scotia at midnight on Saturday/Sunday. It was a pretty painless trip back until we boarded the plane in Boston to get back into Canada. We taxied out to the runway and then stopped. The pilot came on and told us that there was a mechanical problem and we’d have [...]

When to have the next baby…

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive

I’ve been thinking a lot about when I should have the next baby. I have never pictured myself having only one child, never in a million years (and that’s why it was so difficult to think of only ever having one when faced with the reality of isoimmunization), mostly because my siblings are so important [...]

Travelling!!

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily| Gillian| I <3 Clive| Travelling

Clive has to go away on business for two weeks in May (then home for a week and then gone for another week). This is his third trip in the seven months he’s worked at this job (first to Toronto and then to Montreal), and this time he’s being sent to Augusta, Georgia. [...]

He sounds like such a baby

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| I <3 Clive

Oh man, I miss heat. Today was like +10 so Ash and I were able to just wear our hoodies and not be cold. But it’s not good enough! I want sun and surf and warm ocean water! Clive’s going to GA from May 11-24 on business and we’re going to try to [...]

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My youth was comprised of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
