Birth Story Video, Again

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Videos

I posted this exactly one month ago, but it was at the end of my very long newsletter, and not many people commented on it, so I imagine that it may have gotten overlooked. Ash turns seven months old today, so the next installment of his newsletter will come tonight, but I wanted to [...]

New Food Face

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Videos

I swear I’m not feeding him battery acid, despite the look on his face.
Ash loves butternut squash and brown rice cereal. He’s not fond of apples and refuses pears. Next up: organic carrots. They smell delicious!

A Look Back…

Did you know that Clive’s knee STILL acts up after this fall? My sister (and the ice banks at Niagara Falls) are to blame. But mostly my sister.

Dear Ashden: Month Six

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Monthly Newsletters| Videos

Dear Ash,
You’re SIX MONTHS OLD! That’s half a year!! HAPPY HALF-BIRTHDAY! Let’s party! And we did!

This month has flown by. You and I have worked ourselves into a little schedule and the hours of the days of the weeks just slip by, and I have a hard time remembering any of it. [...]

You saw it correctly: four outfits in one day

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| Videos

Yesterday I took a video of Ash and I doing, well, Ash and I stuff. Pottying, playing with the most annoying toy in the world (which happens to be his favorite… I have my mom to thank for that one), going for a walk in the sling, playing in the exersaucer while I eat [...]

Another post today to add this video, even though dooce.com linked it earlier, this is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.

I lose

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Daily| Family| Gillian| Videos

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been letting Ash drink a small amount of water almost every day. He initiated it, reaching out and grabbing for my glass, and he LOVES it. I think it’s partially because it’s cool on his gums, and partially because now is about the time when [...]

The Video Version: Down by the Bay

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| Videos

Do not press play unless you want to hear my not-good singing voice. As mentioned before, Ash’s new favorite song is Down by the Bay. This is what I hear as I fall asleep EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. JESUS. H. CHRIST.

Ash’s Early Laughs

Posted by: typealice In: Baby| Gillian| Videos

Ignore me, please. Just listen to my son, and look at the pride in his face when he’s standing up. I can absolutely hear his voice, “see mama! look at me stand! look! aren’t i good at it? lookat mama!”

I love his little laughs. They haven’t even reached a giggle yet, but they’re music to [...]

About

I'm Gillian, a Nova Scotian woman with a son named Ash (born 09/07) and a wife to Clive. I am what they call an Attachment Parent; I breastfeed, wear my baby as much as possible, cosleep, cloth diaper and practice elimination communication. I have very strong parenting views. We are raising Ash as an organic vegetarian. I care about the environment and do what I can to reduce my carbon footprint and set a good example for others, especially my child.

I'm proudly drug free, but can't say that I have always been. My early 20s were comprised mostly of travelling- I've lived and worked everywhere from West Africa to the Caribbean. I currently run AP Mamas, a site dedicated to attachment parenting and G Slings, my sustainable sling company.
